Clik here to view.Ok, so last week I weighted in and had gained 3 pounds from the week before. I’m not sure why….my scales are possibly off (they’re digital), or it could’ve been the granola I ate all week. Regardless, I weighed in this morning at the gym and I’m now at 202 lbs. The puts me at 23 lbs of total weight loss. Too bad you can’t count the 3 up 3 down…lol….but I started at 225 and now I’m down to 202!!! That’s exciting. The 200 barrier is tough and takes (it seems) the longest to crack.
Everyone who sees me who knows I’ve been keeping up this diet change (really a lifestyle change) asks me really intently, “So how do you FEEL though??” I think they think that if I’m feeling horrible since starting this program that it will make them feel better about not making drastic changes in their own way of eating!? Actually, and this isn’t hype at all…..I FEEL AMAZING! My energy levels haven’t been this consistent and balanced in probably 2-3 years, my blood sugar is really stabilizing and keeping me from crashing at all (check out my hypoglycemia post here), and my moods have been really really good. Another thing I’ve really noticed lately I was telling one of my friends is that I can breathe so much better. I was getting out of breath and short of breath when I was doing ordinary stuff and especially playing with Harper before I started this program, but now I can run around the house with him as long as HE wants and I’m totally fine. That’s a really good feeling.
One factor in all this that I haven’t really talked about that is a monumental key to my success on this journey is my wife, Cindy. Support from your spouse I think is vital, not necessarily from you doing this at all, but it is vital for you to stick with it and for you to get the type of changes you’re wanting. I mean, be real about this, if you start doing a totally raw diet and you’re the only one and you have to fix 2 or more different meals for everyone in the house….it gets old and it is extra work for you. Although, when you’re doing so many of the salads, they are so easy to throw together that it really isn’t too much more work. But you get my point. So much of fitness and weight loss is mental approach and visualization of your goal and if your significant other isn’t on board with the way you’re trying to achieve your goal….it’s going to be harder for you. If you’re looking at doing a program to get your health and your body back, no matter what it is….you really need to sit down with your husband or wife and talk to them about what and why you are doing and really enlist them as your biggest supporter before you start. I always think about Rocky Balboa (sorry, that’s my era…lol). In the movies he was a great fighter and would be doing fine but if he ever got in a tough spot, he always had Mickey (his trainer…the old snarly guy) in his corner to pump him up and give him encouragement to get him over the hump. He would always come out of the corner swinging after talking to Mickey. My wife is my “mickey”. Cindy not only shops for me, she helps me prepare a lot of what I eat, she comes up with new ideas all the time for how to make salads new and “fun”, she stays on me about not letting me cheat at all (I really wanted some roasted sunflower seeds…), and is just there the entire time telling me how great I’m doing. It sounds silly, but every person I’ve recommended to do this program who has started it in the last few weeks has gotten awesome results, but they all have super supportive spouses too. If you’re a spouse that is watching your husband or wife try to go through a program to help them get into better shape and you’re not going to do it with them…the least you can do is to cheer them on. Be their biggest fan through all of this and they will get exponentially better results…..guaranteed!
I gotta go get ready for work so peace out my hommies!!
